NLG Condemns Joint U.S.-Israeli Attacks on Iran
The National Lawyers Guild joined the International Association of Defense Lawyers (IADL) in condemning the joint attack on Iran launched by the United States and Israel on Feb. 28, 2026. These attacks violate international law by undermining Iran’s territorial integrity and the U.S. Constitution by proceeding without congressional authorization or any imminent threat to national security.
The NLG urged “all supporters of justice, sovereignty, peace, and international law” to take action and demonstrate against this aggression to bring it to an end. It further encouraged lawyers, as well as legal and human rights institutions, to hold U.S. and Israeli officials accountable. It also outlined guidance from the Military Law Taskforce (MLT) of the NLG, which states that U.S. armed service members have a right to resist and refuse illegal orders.
